The lone roleplayer of the DM of the Rings table, Gimli was played in a mostly immersive method. Despite his player's ability to roleplay, his interactions with Aragorn's Player and Legolas' Player managed to erode his dialogue into going out of character most of the time.
He has been roleplaying for twenty years, often spoke fondly of Second Edition and suggests Shadowrun as an alternate. Gimli's player has criticized the DM as being overly lenient on the players. "Back when I was a DM, I would have never let my players get away with something like this!"
He is divorced. The campaign he played before Lord of the Rings was a Call of Cthulhu campaign. It's made him resilient to creepy flavor text.
